Synopsis: Shoulder to Shoulder follows the work of women devoted to handicrafts in a rural province of Afghanistan. More specifically the film follows the journey of a young girl named Najiba who through her work supports the goals and objectives that were set forth by her community.
Director’s Biography: This film is very much autobiographical. It is a snapshot of Najiba Noori’s life. She lives in the Ajdar village in Bamyan Province where through her work she tries to generate income for women with low resources.. Najiba has provided economic opportunities for Ajdar women by buying wool strings to have them make traditional table cloths and druggets (Gilim). Najiba aims to sell her bags and handicrafts at fair prices by using her networks. She is full of ambition and hopes that she can make it a successful business though she is prepared to face any obstacles and challenges that may come her way.
