Ariadna Alvarado-Betancourt

Strategic & Creative Advisor

Ariadna is a creative humanist, film documentary maker and producer, humanitarian and communication strategist with a professional career encompassing the fields of Film/Video/TV/Multimedia production, strategic communication for development, PR and marketing, outreach campaigns, film festivals, performing arts, cultural and arts development, gender related issues, human rights, culturally based youth and women leadership, capacity building and empowerment programs within the United Nations community and private sector in Afghanistan, Spain, Timor-Leste, India, Venezuela, The United States and Mali, as well as working with non-profit media and cultural organizations developing and implementing transformational and inspiring arts for peace-building, multimedia and film projects within the context of Human Rights, Youth, and Women’s Rights issues.

 

She has worked as a producer for various award-winning shorts, feature and documentary films. Some of the latest projects as a creative adviser and producer include Afghanistan International Human Rights Film Festival (AHRFF), Afghanistan International Women Film Festival (AIWFF), "We believe in balloons" peace campaign, The Bohemian Film, CDW Films, TEDTalk Kabul, among others.

Ariadna is currently on assignment as the Head of the Multimedia Unit of the UN Mission in Mali implementing and developing strategic and creative multimedia tools and content for the peace and reconciliation process, while working together with Malian media and cultural actors, musicians, governmental leaders, local change-makers, policy-makers, human rights and women's rights activists and other members of the civil society, in order to promote the culture of peace and national dialogue in Mali.

She holds a BA on Arts & Humanities from the University of Maryland and an MA in Creative Documentary Filmmaking from the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) in Barcelona, Spain. ​She is currently studying a second MA degree in Peace and Conflict studies from the University for Peace in Costa Rica.

Alvarado-Betancourt is a member of the Washington D.C. Women in Film and Video, and the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP). She is deeply engaged and committed in finding time to put her heart into sustainable, soulful emerging and creative projects for humanity. Ariadna was born in Caracas, Venezuela.
